General Eligibility & Entry
Only enter knockout competitions if you know you will have a good range of availability to lay matches across the season.
- Sign-up is online only; a draw proceeds only with 8+ entries on closing date.
- Accounts must be up to date before the draw is made; payment is taken on entry from the player account.
- 12‑month Rolling Handicap (must have 4 WHS competition cards on record) applies on the draw date.
- Handicap limits:
- men’s Course Handicap max 28 in all knockouts
- ladies’ CH max 38 in Leah Bowl, Nixon Bowl, and Dorothy Curtis Cup.
- Every entrant must have a contact phone and email registered with the club; entry gives consent to share details.
- Players will receive opponent details via email after first-round draws are made.
- Once a player has played in a round, no substitutes are allowed.
- If one side cannot play, they may give a bye; once given, it cannot be rescinded.
- No round deadline will be extended for personal circumstances. No exceptions.
- The committee may change round deadlines if needeid; notice will be given.
- A discretionary adjustment of 1 point will be applied to the handicap index of every player winning a knockout. The adjustment will be applied at the end of season handicap review.
- Should a player win multiple knockouts the deduction will only be applied once
Scheduling Responsibilities Top of Draw
Top player must contact their opponent ASAP, and no later than end of week 1 of the round, offering:
- 3 weekend dates all on different weekends.
- 2 mid‑week dates, not the same weekday and not in the same week.
- Dates should be spread over 4 weeks(or remaining term of current round) to allow for holidays.
Failure to offer as above → disqualification.
Scheduling Responsibilities Bottom of Draw
- Must accept one of the dates offered that meets the above criteria.
Failure to accept one of the valid offers → disqualification.
Course & Match Play
- All matches must be on a full course: 18 holes open, no bucket holes, start on 1st tee.
- In mixed competitions: all coloured tees used must be within 10 metres of markers. Same‑gender matches may use temporary tee positions.
- First‑hole honour is dictated by the draw order: top of draw tees first (Rule 6.4a).
- If players do not arrive at the agreed time, the waiting side should report to the Pro Shop; the waiting side is deemed to have been given a bye.
Results & Deadlines
- If one side cannot play, they may give a bye; once given, it cannot be rescinded.
- Electronic entry of results is mandatory and should be entered by the winner(s) of the match.
- Results not entered by end of deadline day for a round with result in automatic disqualification of player(s) in that match.
- If arrangements are not adhered to by both sides, all players will be scratched from the competition (including the Final).
Unavailable Dates / Course Closure
- If 18 holes are not open or the course is closed on the arranged match date:
- Parties should arrange another date within the current round timeframe.
- If no future date can be agreed before the round deadline the match MUST be played on the FIRST day the course is open after the round deadline.
- Failure to play the match will result in disqualification of all parties in rounds prior to final. Should this occur in the final please immediately consult the Professional or the Handicap Secretary.
- Semi/final: players must consult the Professional or Competition Secretary immediately (on the day); failure to do so will result in disqualification of all parties.
